EMMAUS CHURCH IS CLOSED Thank you for all the years friends!

Updates on Closure

Some financial details as we lead up to our last service.

Intro

Emmaus Family,

I’ve had a few questions circling around how we’ll wrap up financially and what that means for your tithes.

Those are good questions, and I am personally thankful for many of you who have expressed specific concern for me. That’s very kind.

BIG TICKET ITEMS

There are a handful of things that we must wrap up. The elders are finalizing a “plan of liquidation” and are aiming to file the appropriate paperwork with the state of Colorado by the end of October. These are legal items that help us appropriately wrap up the incorporated side of the organization.

  • We currently have about $30k in savings. That is enough for 6 months worth of severance pay for me and for Kelsey ($28,200 combined) as well as various payroll and administrative fees to wrap up the year and ensure W-2s are delivered appropriately.
  • We’re paying Ben’s insurance and salary for the entirety of September to help with the move and keep him on the books as we wrap up various accounts.
  • I (Aaron) will stay on payroll in October to wrap up various administrative items with Emmaus and (ideally) finish helping Scum with their transition.
  • We’re also using the remaining missions fund to finish out the year supporting the Hillners (roughly $1000).

SMALL(ER) POTATOES

Since we'll be cutting off a key source of income for Scum of the Earth (our $500 a month rent), we'd love to have a little bit left over to help Scum keep the lights on during their transition.

Our goal is to transition tech materials from the gathering to a local church. Ideally, that would be one at 935 W 11th or within the CCD family, but according to our articles of incorporation, it could be any Christian organization.

We won’t have much financially left over, if any at all. Lower tithes in September could shake out to less overall severance, but it’s all very close.

We’re prioritizing severances and our missions’ fund over any additional gifts/support.

OUR ASK

My ask is that you give as you would typically in September, and then save/transfer your October and forward tithe to whichever church family you are called to support.

You might even think about donating directly to Jess as she transitions to One Gospel (click here, choose Jess). Part of my personal tithe will support her until I find a new church home.

THANK YOU

Thank you for your care and support over the years. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any additional questions.

I'm crazy thankful to have been on this ride with you all, and I'm looking forward to seeing what God does with each of you in the next season.

PS - Our final meal-based service (think last Sunday at Sterling) will be on the 15th of September, typical time!
