Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and visiting a new church can be nerve-wracking. We want to ensure that your first experience at an Emmaus Gathering is a good one! Sundays at Emmaus are full of celebration and reflection, and have a casual feel. We view our Sundays like a family reunion gathered around the table. We invite you to come as you are. You can expect to receive a warm welcome. If it is your first time, feel free to pick out a book from the welcome table to take home on us! Let us answer some FAQs.

What can I expect?
What happens at a Gathering?
Before the regular portion of our Gathering, we gather for a time of prayer. Our Gathering Host will lead us in praying around different topics both externally and internally in relation to our community. This is an open invitation to anyone who wants to join us! This prayer time runs from 9:45 to 10:15, before our regular Sunday Gathering at 10:30.
The regular portion of our Sunday Gatherings at Emmaus usually runs about 90 minutes. We like to start with an upbeat song and a moment to focus our minds and hearts on God as we prepare to worship as a community. This is followed by a time to reflect on God and respond to our need for grace through corporate worship, confession, and assurance. Each week we will have a gospel-centered message rooted in Scripture followed by a time of reflection and remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus through Communion. After that, we sing more songs in a celebratory response to the preached Word and person of Christ, and we are sent out with an encouragement to continue to gather as a community and live out our vision and mission as a church until we gather again.
What about my kids?
We offer childcare during the gathering for any children ages 1 to 4 years old. Infants and children older than four are asked to participate in the gathering with their families.
